Opening
Review Minutes
Minutes from previous meeting (October 14, 2002) read by secretary (Ross) and approved by the board without modification.
2003 Family Reunion
Ted reported progress on progress on planning for the family reunion as follows:
- The reunion will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 13-14, 2003 at Donley & Gloria Despain’s property in Birch Creek, Sanpete County, Utah.
- Restrooms: Ted has identified a local provider of porta-potties – White Sanitation. Ross offered to check on other possible sources (action).
- Ted has located a list of motels/hotels in the Sanpete County area. Charlene will include local options (within ~25 mile radius) in newsletter. Unimproved sites are available on the property for those wishing to camp in tents, trailors, motor homes, etc.
- Donley Despain drew a map, including driving directions, for inclusion in newsletter.
- Ted visited Birch Creek on Dec 26 and found the ground covered with a foot of snow.
- The board discussed and determined that the reunion program will be as follows:
- Friday
- Noon – 6:00: Arrive and set up camp
- 6:00: Dinner
- 7:30: Campfire program
- Saturday
- 7:30 – 9:00: Breakfast
- 9:30: Field trip: Ft. Green Cemetary
- 10:30: Business Meeting
- 11:30: Walking tour of Birch Creek (or hay ride)
- 12:30: Lunch
- 1:30: Depart
- Charlene will bring cotton candy machine
- Dinner to be catered by Mark Cox of Moroni ($9.50 / person)
Newsletter
Charlene led discussion about newsletter:
- Donley wrote personal history, and gave Charlene history of his father
- Reunion details to be included
- Board member nomination solicitation
- Dues are due
Action Items
- Ross – send menu to Charlene
- Ross – check on price for kids (propose 12 & under half price)
- Ross – find out who is buried in Ft. Green Cemetery
- Ross – check on tractor & wagon for hay ride
- Ted – arrange for generator (Ted’s or Donley’s)
- Janet – figure something out for the kids (idea: old fashioned games for kids, making candles)
- Ross – identify site for reunion in case of inclement weather
- Ross – send Charlene list of activity ideas for Sanpete for folks who may want to stay Saturday afternoon
- Shaunna – solicit nominations for board spots
- Ross – send mailing labels to Charlene (Excel) (this week)
- Enid – send Charlene newsletter blurb soliciting dues
- Charlene – put together newsletter and ship it
